The Best Sausalito Mexican Restaurants (2023)
If you ask which type of cuisine I’d be willing to eat forever, I have a really hard time choosing. My three favorites – Korean, German, and Mexican – are very different! While Sausalito lacks Korean food, there are a few decent German dishes at Joinery, and actually several Sausalito Mexican restaurants to enjoy.
While the list of Mexican restaurants in our small town is admittedly short compared with some other cuisines (burgers, seafood, Italian, etc.), the three Mexican restaurants in Sausalito are all great – and very different.

So whether you’re craving a burrito, want good guacamole and chips for an appetizer, or just need a margarita that means business, these are the spots to go. Read on for the best Sausalito Mexican restaurants to choose one for your next meal.
(Note: I have not included every restaurant that offers fish tacos or seafood ceviche on this list – if you just want fish tacos in Sausalito, I have a separate list for that!)
Sausalito is the traditional lands of the Graton Rancheria, Miwok, and Me-Wuk (Coast Miwok) peoples. With respect, I make a formal land acknowledgment, extending my appreciation to the past and present stewards of these lands. To learn more, I invite you to explore Native Land.

Copita

Located in the heart of the city, Copita is one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in Sausalito. It’s been voted “Best Mexican Food” by Bay Area A-List voters four years in a row, and it’s easy to see why. The restaurant has something for everyone, and its casual atmosphere makes it perfect for a relaxed evening out. Be sure to check out Copita’s outdoor patio; you can people-watch as folks come and go from the Sausalito Ferry and explore this lovely town.
The Mexican cuisine is served from tacos and burritos to enchiladas and tamales, and it has a full bar with cocktails and Mexican beers. This delicious Mexican food will satisfy even the most discerning palate.

If you’re looking for Mexican restaurants in Sausalito that offer a bit more than just tacos and burritos, Saylor’s Restaurant & Bar is a great option. The menu here features dishes like queso fundido, chile relleno, and margarita shrimp, as well as a wide selection of cocktails and Mexican beers.
Saylor’s is also a great place to watch the game – with TVs scattered throughout the restaurant, you’ll never miss a minute of the action.
If you’re looking for Mexican restaurants in Sausalito that offer something for everyone, be sure to check out Saylor’s Restaurant & Bar; you won’t be disappointed. And since it offers outdoor seating to take advantage of Sausalito’s great weather, make sure to ask for a table on the patio when you visit.
Salsalito Taco Shop

Serving up Baja-style Mexican food with a California twist is Salsalito Taco Shop, a local favorite. Most Sausalito Mexican restaurants are known for their delicious tacos, but Salsalito Taco Shop delivers an authentic taco far superior to the norm.
Salsalito is actually where J and I celebrated closing on our houseboat when we first moved to Sausalito. We enjoyed the margaritas and tacos for their fresh flavors. We still have a bottle of chile-salt in our cupboard from their pandemic pop-up shop, too!
Be sure to come hungry and thirsty when you visit for not only their tacos but also their burritos, quesadillas, and frosty margaritas. Their full bar of cocktails and Mexican beers aren’t too shabby either. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and is perfect for a quick meal or take-out. And don’t forget to check out the shop’s namesake – the Salsalito Taco, which is made with shrimp, fish, and scallops. You won’t find a better taco in Sausalito.
These all sound delicious, right? Which one will you be dining at? Have any other questions about these Sausalito Mexcian restaurants? Let me know in the comments!
