Delis in Sausalito: A Guide to 3 Great Sandwich Spots
Is there anything better than a great sandwich at lunchtime? You can put almost anything you like between two slices of bread, slather it all with sauces, and enjoy a meal that leaves you energized and ready for the rest of your day.
Sausalito is home to lots of incredible restaurants and many of them are great spots for lunch – but delis are their own category and deserve special attention.

If you love the idea of a made-for-you grab-and-go lunch today or during your upcoming day trip to Sausalito, below you’ll find a bit of info about each of the three delis in Sausalito and what makes each one great.
Sausalito is the traditional lands of the Graton Rancheria, Miwok, and Me-Wuk (Coast Miwok) peoples. With respect, I make a formal land acknowledgment, extending my appreciation to the past and present stewards of these lands. To learn more, I invite you to explore Native Land.
Davey Jones Deli

- Neighborhood: Waldo Point
While they’re on the north end of town and less convenient than others on this list, Davey Jones Deli makes the hands-down best sandwiches in Sausalito. I know it is a big statement, but you can read hundreds of reviews backing up my opinion.
This low-key shop makes organic sandwiches. They source their veggies from local producers, make their own meats, and make their own condiments. The variety of salads, wraps, and sandwiches is mind-blowing. And they have the most creative names – maybe you’d like to try their Kerouac sandwich. It’s also one of the best Sausalito delis for vegans and vegetarians out there!
Oh, and it also has everything you need for an impromptu beach picnic. What else could you ask for?
Golden Gate Market

- Neighborhood: Old Town/Hurricane Gulch
New to the Sausalito food scene, Golden Gate Market is conveniently located along the bike route from San Francisco to Sausalito. And if you need a break after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, this is the place.
This quirky market houses a deli at the back, which happens to make delicious food to go. The stars here are really the sandwiches, which have pretty strange names as well. Feel free to order what you like, but here’s my humble suggestion: go with anything that has local salami. The deli also has a great selection of sodas, kombucha, chips, and local artisan goods.
Sausalito Gourmet Delicatessen

- Neighborhood: Bridgeway Promenade
Sausalito Gourmet Delicatessen is one of the best delis in Sausalito if you’d like something less touristy. This quaint European-style deli is run by a wonderful couple. It is near the waterfront and has lots of great choices for sandwiches, salads, and pasta – the bread is baked in-house and there are gluten-free options.
The deviled eggs are one of their specialties and they’ve been selling them for about the last 40 years. Plus, it’s right across from some great spots to sit on the bay so you can eat and enjoy the view!
